Why don’t you have Netflix?

I’ve binge watched quite a few amazing shows lately. Wondering what to watch? Let this guide help you.

  1. Bates Motel Season 4 – Captivating and creepy. Characters you just want to know everything about. Based on Phycho. Norma and Norman navigate a super weird mother-son relationship.  I found myself thinking “geez I hope my son thinks of me like that when we’re older” and “ew”. What’s going to happen next? I can’t stop watching.
  2. Dark Matter – Interesting concept and fun. Bunch of people wake up on a spaceship. Cue amnesia. They have to figure out who they truly are. Guns, robots, space.
  3. The OA – What was this show?! It was nothing like I’ve ever seen before. I can’t say much because you should be in the dark watching this one. The creator and star of the show wanted it kept a secret too. Girl returns after being gone for 7 years.
  4. 3% – Brazilian show in Portuguese with English subtitles. That means I can’t watch it while doing other things – no watching while making dinner or doing laundry or making tutus. Super intriguing show about the 3% of 20 year-olds that get to move to The Offshore. What is The Offshore? How are they chosen to go? What’s with the leader of the process? Who are these candidates really?
  5. Colony – Entertaining show with Lost hottie and Prison Break chick. New colony has been formed in California and this family doesn’t have all it’s members anymore. Who’s controlling this set up? Where’s the boy? Who’s going to get caught? Will the rebellion succeed? Fun fun.
  6. The Returned – Watched this in English and then French to see how they differed. Interesting show about some folks returned from the dead. Creepy at times.
  7. Glitch – Australian show about folks that have returned form the dead. Not scary.
  8. Crazyheads – So much fun. A little scary. About two badass chicks fighting evil.
  9. The Fall Season 3 – asldkfjsoifwefadfsdkfasg not many words can be said about this show. Still my favourite.
  10. The Mindy Project Season 5 – good season. Not the best season but still lots of fun and one of my faves.
  11. Gilmore Girls – One of those shows that everyone watched but me. I finally got around to it and I really enjoyed it. I watched all the seasons plus the recent one and it was a great experience. Makes you think about family and what makes you a good parent.
  12. The Crown – About the early years of Queen Elizabeth’s II reign. I enjoyed this show but at times I felt myself saying “oh it’s supposed to be a very dramatic moment right now” just because of the music.
  13. Zoo Season 2 – This show was just not what I was expecting. I liked it a lot even though it was a bit repetitive and less original than what I’m going for these days. A group of people with unique skills team up to save the world from the animals.
  14. The Vampire Diaries Season 7 – I caught up on this show last year. Entertaining good looking people kissing and killing.

Shows I’ve Stopped Watching Recently

  1. The Walking Dead – There’s only so many nightmares a girl can have before she asks herself if sleeping is more important or a television program. I heard about one of the beloved characters getting hacked this year and didn’t really feel like crying for him just yet.
  2. How To Get Away With Murder – I’ve tried 4 times to get going into season 2 but have so far only made it to episode 3.
  3. Modern Family – Gave up this one years ago. I found the humour repetitive. As much as I loved seeing Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) as a openly gay couple, especially years ago when it was more new and since Eric is self-described as “openly straight”, I just got bored. I’ve moved off the cable network shows and on to whatever’s trending on Netflix so this one got the cut.
  4. Daredevil – I think I finished Season 2. But I didn’t like it. I’ll watch season 3 though!
  5. Luke Cage – Tried watching this one 2 times and will give it a third.
  6. The Middle and Scorpion – Put them on Netflix and I’ll watch them again.
  7. House of Cards – That show was uber depressing.
  8. Empire – I just got so damn angry with Jamal.
  9. Once Upon A Time – I just don’t have a need for “fluffy” shows like this after seeing how much other truly compelling television there is available.
  10. Pretty Little Liars – Too Scary for me, thanks.
  11. Black Mirror – Watched that horrifyingly uncomfortable first episode and cannot continue. It was just too much.
  12. Fuller House – I watched the first season for the nostalgia and I wanted to know what the characters were up to. Now I know.
  13. Orange is the new black – I don’t like or care about the characters like I once did.
  14. Better Call Saul – boring.
